My response to Polly Toynbee

Monday 23 January 2012

"Welfare cuts: now they're slamming the door on the truly desperate | Polly Toynbee"

Much as I detest using this link to hammer home the way elderly, sick, disabled and poverty stricken people (children included) are, and have been for a number of years, due to government red tape at such a level as to put off many genuine and desperate claimants from claiming their less than human rights :

Blogger isn't allowing me to post the link but the info. is readily available via a google search for Beryl Brasier, a grandmother hounded to suicide...

Please read this. I know it's a publication that most right minded and defenders of our poverty stricken population might not read, but it is in a minority, yet again, supporting them and criticising the government to make absolutely critical and speedy change...

Those of us supporting the 'Responsible Reform' report, also referred to it by it's authors and many others as the 'Spartacus Report,' know in great detail every penny taken from the most vulnerable will have an enormous knock on affect whereby local authorities and charities are very soon going to be faced with horrendous financial difficulty to even get those at severe risk in to an increasingly higher, and spiralling out of costs accommodation ; because, surprise, surprise, the private sector ie. short term temporary accommodation, is mostly relied upon to meet this shortfall, especially for the vulnerable groups I have named above; simply cannot wait even a night in freezing temperatures bearing their babes in arms covered in blankets simply to keep them from suffering hypothermia and other more serious illnesses...

Food? Where do they get that from? A bin outside a supermarket?

It was nick- named thus because as a group we had very little faith in it ever getting to the stage it has so highly and justly deserved. The support from the Lords, celebrities, et al, has been amazing, but we have to continue to protect these and other vulnerable people. This is completely obvious and shockingly 'overlooked' by The CONDEMS, Whitehall and the national media.

The media beast has tarred all claimants "benefit scroungers" even though there is barely a 0.5% rate of fraud. Of course, we all agree that the non entitled be weeded out, but at what expense? Tens, if not hundreds of thousands of genuine claimants are dragged through assessments and then tribunals, of which at least 60% are overturned at the first hurdle... And for what? The answer is ATOS; the company contracted to get as many people off benefits as possible. People are not numbers for a target driven company. We are all (appart from the odd one or two), genuine cases and we are not performance related targets!

I'm embarrassed to admit my previous occupation before becoming severely disabled myself...

Work, unemployed, work , unemployed...

Sitting here listening to the HoL is making me feel very uncomfortable. There are no jobs! Period... Appart from in central/greater London; and certainly no jobs, even with both parents working...

Almost three million unemployed.

One million of those under 25.

Benefit cap. Talk to those sleeping in boxes...

The reality is that the CONDEMS do not want anyone without money living near them.

Don't get me wrong... Personally, I don't agree with people living in Notting Hill, Kensington etc. It's obscene considering a lot of people in private/temporary accommodation are having to claim high rates of HB.

The idiot speaking at the moment is taking the piss out of Wales saying that it's housing costs, obviously, are much lower. WTF are the jobs then you f'ing asshole...

'Friends'...

Once upon a time I was foolish and naive...

I accepted 'friendship' from a woman, who was the 'rise and fall from grace' with my family'...

The person responsible for acquainting me with her was, to become my baby brother's mother in law; on an innocent Saturday afternoon whilst Wales were playing a six nations rugby match...

This occurred soon after I moved back to my 'home town'.

Despite many of my family members, and in between, her fucking one of them and her doing the 'wrong', I 'stood up' for her. I was loyal to the 'nth...

Whatever she may say, and I've not heard anything different.

The worst incident I recall (cringe-worthy), was her throwing a hissy after a night out in Swansea for a girl's night, on a Scottish rugby match weekend, whereby she went balistic because the guy fancying me came over for a date with me the following day. She was busy with her BF of the time but was extremely pissed off because I had 'pulled'.

Good luck to you love and enjoy your glory because you won't get it back...

Gladiators

In view of the #spartacusreport we all have a week to celebrate...

We all did, and are continuing to do as much as we can.

The authors of the report are at meltdown situations.

We cannot let the government win this one.

I know that people see us as 'the gov.com benefit scroungers'.

We are not.

We are the hidden people, left alone in our fight...

Hidden in our homes (prisons), four walls to call our domain...

For numerous disabled people; we wish we could be mobile; we wish we could be heard; we wish we never had to deal with this situation.

It's bad enough having to go through serious illness without having to account for it... Are we a nation of benefit scroungers? NO WE ARE NOT!!!

All I ask is that the whole of the UK sees fit to support disabled people...

My best friend

He was the person that worried about me when I became seriously ill, couldn't get hold of me by phone and found me collapsed on the cold kitchen floor suffering from at first, what the doctors thought was hypothermia...

He was the main person to visit me every day even in ITU with the medical staff telling him there was no hope...

He was the person that held our daughter during the most distressing times of her life...

He even looked after my kittens, who became cats when I was in hospital...

He shielded me from the horrific knowledge of how seriously poorly I had been which would have been detrimental during those first few months of recovery.

Even now, almost two years down the line, he visits me at least four times a week and checks on me via phone on other days.

If I could, I would ask that he get recognition from the Queen for his outstanding devotion, support and old fashioned gallantry...

He is my ex husband and the best friend anyone could ask/hope for...

A new voice

A lone voice whispers,
But a million voices scream...

To whom it may concern...

As a responsible journalist and member of the public I have reached a decision to publish the following:

Six women (have had to edit names, no worries, they know who they are) were responsible for an unprovoked attack upon my person on the 26th November 2003 (or thereabouts).

The females were hostile and threatening to me before they left the establishment and went to another public house.
One 'nice' person was the the original serious protagonist by entering the 'Harp' public house again on said occasion with two glasses of water and proceeding to pour such over me.

I was due to move house the following day and had only 'popped out' for a few drinks with my friends amidst the packing. There was, in no indication, that the women would attempt such a brutal and callous attack upon a lone woman. From their actions I can only assume that they were 'ganging up' because they had all refused help with my daughter's and my house move with the lame excuse of a sporting event on the Saturday, 28th November. No help was offered or asked for on the Sunday because I had already given up on help from my family.

It was horrific. They beat me with punches to my face, body and head; before bringing me to the ground in a series of brutal acts including slamming me against walls, pavements, roads etc... They burned me with ciggarets; they broke my spectacles; they tore my clothing and ripped out my hair (which is very long)...

The one saving grace was my youngest brother who held me and told them that 'enough was enough' and allowed me to get away from the situation, even knowing that one of the worst offenders was his own wife.

I should have reported it all to the police but they were awkward at best. Another incident a few weeks later confirmed my thoughts.

Quirky FB Status'

Am going to jot here some of the nonsense I write... There may even be something funny once in a while ;)

My first words of 2012:

"Me is goin' t' take a sleep, my love to those I care so deep... x"

Later that day:

"Is it normal for women over 40 to enjoy watching gladiators?"

What are they going to do with us?

Inspired by Sue Marsh's Piece in the Guardian 9th January, 2012.
https://apps.facebook.com/theguardian/commentisfree/2012/jan/08/disabled-people-welfare-reform-sham

What are they going to do with severely disabled people after the year benefit limitation? What are they going to do if DLA doesn't automatically qualify some claimants other benefits? What are they going to do when they cut our essential services so much that we cannot live in our own homes and lead as normal life as possible. What are they going to do to make it easier for us to engage in work from home and work it around our disabilities as Sue said? What are they going to do with all the adapted housing stock when property size is questioned? What are they going to do when these cases start landing in Brussels?

It is FAR more cost effective to keep the current system and rightly weed out the tiny percentage that are pulling the wool. If they had to pay for our care in specialist homes it would cost hundreds of times more than doing things the present way. ATOS should be taken out of the equation all together because disabled people are not numbers that count towards targets. The people being asked to verify disabilities should be the very people treating them such as GPs, community nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, consultants, psychologists...The list goes on...

Oh, and it's about time the media got off our backs as well because they may very well regret the witch hunt they started ;)
